Yield: 1 wreath

Grab an Easter egg wreath form and a bunch of Dollar Store faux lilacs to make this beautiful floral Easter wreath.

Materials

  • 1 Easter egg wreath form
  • 18 bunches of Dollar Store lilacs - 6 white, 6 medium purple, 3 dark purple
  • floral wire
  • wire cutters
  • 2-inch-wide black and white check ribbon
  • scissors
  • 1 white pipe cleaner/chenille stem

Instructions

  1. Watch the video below before you begin, and let that be your visual guide for this craft.
  2. Use wire cutters to snip the top 6-8-inches off a mini lilac bunch. Cut a 12-inch length of floral wire. Hold the cut stems at the base, and wrap 6 times with floral wire. Use the floral wire to secure the lilac bunch to the wreath form - wrap around 6 times, twist, and trim the ends with a wire cutter.
  3. Repeat step 1 with the remaining lilac bunches. Attach the bunches to the top of the wreath form first, layering the top of next bunch over the stems of the previous. Layer the lilacs in an ombre pattern, with the white lilacs first, followed by the medium purple and then the dark purple.
  4. Make a large bow with the black and white ribbon. Form 5 figure-8 bows, pinch the center, and secure with a pipe cleaner. Twist the pipe cleaner on the back of the bow, and then twist to secure to the bottom of the wreath form. Cover the pipe cleaner with a length of ribbon tied around the center of the bow. Trim the ribbon tail ends at an angle.
  5. Fluff the flowers and slide the lilac bunches back and forth, making sure that no metal from the wreath form shows through. Fluff out the loops on the bow.
