GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES AND CREATE A DOLLAR STORE BUNNY WREATH FOR YOUR FRONT DOOR!
I enjoy using supplies that I pick up at the Dollar Store. The mopheads that I used to make this bunny wreath are assembled with a natural cotton blend yarn, which makes it thick, fluffy, and durable…. not to mention totally budget-friendly
This is actually the same material I used when making a yarn pumpkin craft last fall. Although the Dollar Store sells its own version of yarn, you’ll want to make sure and use the mop heads for this craft project. The thickness of the yarn on the mop head makes for a better overall finished product.
WHY I LOVE THIS PROJECT
I’ve created quite a few things using yarn and each project turned out super cute. Yarn is a very easy material to work with and easy to manipulate. If you’re new to working with yarn, I suggest playing around with the different types until you find your favorite one to work with.

TUTORIAL: HOW TO MAKE A DOLLAR STORE BUNNY WREATH
Follow this quick video, or read the step-by-step directions below:
- Start by disassembling the mop heads. Grab a few strands and pull away from the mophead and they’ll come out. As your work your way through, they will become easier to remove. Discard the black top pieces once all the strands have been removed.
- Beginning with the 8″ wreath form, cut the mop strands into thirds. Fold the yarn in half. Tuck the folded end under the outer ring of wreath form. Fold the tail ends over the wire and tuck through the folded end. Pull tight. Repeat with more yarn strands until the outer ring until complete. Then, proceed with the middle ring, then the most inner ring.
- Follow the same process from step 2 with the 12″ wreath form, except the mophead strands will be cut in half. Again, start with the outer most part of the wreath and work your way in.
- Once both wreath forms are filled with tassels, connect them using a piece of floral wire by weaving them through the rungs of the wreath forms. Then twist the floral wire in the center to secure them together.
- To make the bunny ears, cut (2) 9″ size ear-like (oval) shapes out of a piece of cardboard.
- Using the twine, apply a dab of glue to the bottom of the ear and start wrapping until the entire cardboard piece is covered. You will need to apply hot glue every so often to keep the twine secured in place. Repeat the same process for the other ear.
- Once complete, hot glue the ears directly onto the wreath form.
- Remove the flower portion from the stem and hot glue the flower onto the side/kneck area of your bunny wreath.
- Using twine, create a simple bow and hot glue it beneath the flower.
** TIP: Sometimes it was a little tricky to pull my tassels through on the inner rings, so I used my weeding tool from Cricut to help pull the tassel end through.
How cute and easy was this craft project? I chose to hang mine on my craft room door; however, you can hang it wherever you choose. It would also make a nice backdrop decoration for family Easter pictures!
