I LOVE a good seasonal dollar store craft! They’re usually easy to make, and the price is always right. And, I’m no stranger to crafting with gift bags. A few years ago, I whipped up this Gift Bag Valentine Banner:
So, if you’re looking for a quick and easy Valentine’s Day craft, keep reading.
Supplies:
All of these supplies can easily be found in the craft aisle at the dollar store:
- 2 Small Valentine’s Day Gift Bags
- 2 5″ x 7″ Black Picture Frames
- Foam Letter Stickers
- Craft Paint – Black
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Ruler
Tutorial: How to Make Framed Valentine Gift Bags
- Take the picture frames apart. Set the glass aside – either recycle or save it for another project.
- With a pencil, trace the picture frame cardboard back onto the front (smooth, unfolded) side of each of the gift bags.
- Use scissors to cut out the rectangles from both gift bags. Since the gift bags have two sides, there is another set of Valentine’s Day paper to use for another project.
- Reassemble the picture frames, without the glass.
- If you don’t have foam stickers in the right color, just paint them! Apply the letters to spell LOVE and XOXO to a piece of plastic packaging (or plastic wrap). Apply black paint, making sure to cover all the side edges. Let dry and apply a second coat of paint, if necessary.
- Lay the ruler across the picture frame where the words will be placed. Using black foam stickers, apply your chosen message. These frames have the word LOVE and XOXO, but feel free to create your own personalized message.
Keep these frames, and feel free to change out their contents with the changing seasons and holidays.
