WHY I LOVE THIS CRAFT PROJECT

It’s no secret that I LOVE a good dollar store craft, especially seasonal crafts made with dollar store supplies. Unfortunately, if you don’t have a Dollar Tree store nearby, or you don’t shop there often, you may miss out on their specialty seasonal craft supplies. They’re there one minute, and then gone the next.

This cute little Easter craft uses dollar store supplies, but only ones that you can buy year-round. This means you can make it whenever you like!

Easter Craft: DIY Wooden Block Bunny

Supplies Needed to Make this Wooden Easter Bunny

  • Mini Wooden Crate – Dollar Store
  • Craft Felt in colors Tan and Baby Pink, you can use colored cardstock or craft foam instead
  • Permanent Marker – Dollar Store
  • Acrylic Craft Paint – Light Brown, Cream
  • Scissors
  • Paintbrush
  • Ribbon, Gingham – Dollar Store
  • Buttons, Black – ¾” round

Tutorial: How to Make a Dollar Store Mini Wooden Block Bunny Craft

To make your own little wooden bunny, follow this quick step-by-step tutorial:

  1. Paint the mini wooden crate with a combination of light brown and cream acrylic craft paint. Paint quickly with light brush strokes, to keep the two colors from getting over-mixed. This will create a distressed effect. Feel free to use wood stain or chalk paint if you like. paint the wooden crate to achieve a weathered finish
  2. Download and print the Bunny Ear and Nose Patterns. Cut out patterns with scissors. Using a permanent marker, trace two outer ears on tan felt. Trace two inner ears and a nose on baby pink felt. Cut out all felt shapes with scissors. TIP: Cut inside the traced line, so that your finished project looks neat and clean. Cut felt pieces for ears
  3. Hot glue the pink inner ear felt pieces to the center of the tan outer ear felt pieces. Place a small dot of glue at the base of each ear, and then fold in half to give the ears dimension. hot glue felt ear pieces together
  4. Hot glue two black buttons to the “bottom” of the wooden crate – for eyes. Measure and cut three 4” long pieces of black embroidery floss. Hot glue them just under the eyes for whiskers. Attach the pink felt nose under the eyes, leaving the whiskers poking out the sides. Hot glue eyes whiskers and nose to bunny craft
  5. Run a line of glue along the bottom edge of the ears and attach to the top of the mini crate.
  6. Tie black and white gingham ribbon into a bow. Trim the ends with a notch to prevent fraying. Hot glue to the bottom of the wood crate.

Your finished bunny can be used with Easter or spring decor, as a book end, on a tiered tray, or with a centerpiece.
