THIS FABRIC POCKET SPRING DOOR HANGER IS EASY TO MAKE AND A STYLISH WAY TO DECORATE FOR THE SPRING SEASON.
For this craft project, I actually dipped into my craft stash and found a gift tag-shaped door hanger that I bought over Christmastime and did not use. It happens! And I’m glad it did because I like to create unique door hangers!
Don’t worry if you don’t have one of these lying around. I’m pretty sure they use this same cutout and just use different paper on the cover depending on the season. I actually see these year-round at the Dollar Tree. Chances are you’ll be able to find one that is spring-themed.
WHY I LOVE THIS PROJECT
For starters, I love any craft project that uses supplies I already have on hand. You may be surprised what you can do with things you purchased but did not use. In this case, we’re taking a Christmas-themed door hanger and flipping it into a beautiful spring-themed door decor piece.
I also like figuring out ways to use a variety of commonly used supplies. Flowers are typically placed in a vase or on a wreath

TUTORIAL: HOW TO MAKE A FABRIC POCKET SPRING DOOR HANGER
Follow this quick video, or read the step-by-step directions below.
- Turn the door hanger over to the blank side and apply a generous coat of teal paint to the top 3/4 or so (you won’t need to paint the whole thing). Be sure to paint the sides as well.
- Set cardboard tag aside to dry.
- Cut a scrap piece of cardboard to the width of the tag and about halfway high in height.
- Snip all of the flowers off of the base stem.
- Use duct tape to apply the flowers to the cardboard in an assorted fashion (shortest to tallest). (Trust me, hot glue will not stick – I tried and failed miserably!)
- Once your flowers are taped in place, flip the cardboard over. Take your fabric and tuck the top edge behind the cardboard piece, then wrap the remaining edges around the back (almost like a gift). Secure it with more pieces of duct tape.
- Using the galvanized letters, spell out and apply the word “spring” to the space above the flowers using small pieces of foam tape.
- Create the hanger using doubled-up twine and a slip-knot style loop with a knot on the end.
***NOTE: Since you’re making a “bouquet” on the cardboard, be sure to tape the flowers down from shortest to tallest so when the cardboard is flipped, they will be shown correctly.
Isn’t this just the cutest door hanger? I hope you have fun making one for your door!
