Why I love this craft

I’ve used TONS of pizza pans in past craft projects and that’s one of my favorite things about this craft. In addition to the embellishments, there are only two primary materials – a pizza pan and a faux tin tile piece. It’s super easy to make and inexpensive to make.

What’s my favorite paint for a basecoat?

If you’ve seen any number of my craft videos, then you’ll notice that I always use white Rustoleum chalk paint as my basecoat. I have found this to be the most universal basecoat paint, no matter what material you’re crafting with.

I opted in for a quart and it has lasted me quite some time!

The inspiration for this craft:

As I mentioned before, I’ve made A LOT of pizza pan crafts, so it’s hard to pick just one as an inspiration for this craft. One that is similar to this craft is my Pizza Pan Basket door hanger.

Mason Jar Pizza Pan Door Hanger

Yield: 1 door hanger

Grab a pizza pan from Dollar Tree and a mason jar and learn how to turn them into a Mason Jar Pizza Pan Door Hanger in just a few easy steps!

Materials

  • pizza pan (Dollar Tree)
  • peel-n-stick faux tin tile
  • metal mason jar hanger (Dollar Tree)
  • faux greenery/flowers
  • sharpie marker
  • E6000 glue
  • white Rustoleum chalk paint
  • Folkart chalk paint (color: sage)

Tools

  • scissors
  • 1" flat paint brush

Instructions

  1. Watch the video. Follow along with the video tutorial for a step-by-step walkthrough on how to make your own mason jar pizza pan door hanger.
  2. Trace and cut tin tile. Use the pizza pan as a template to trace and cut out the faux tin tile piece. Cut well inside of the traced line. Peel off the adhesive backing.
  3. Attach tin tile piece. Apply a generous amount of E6000 glue to the back of the faux tin tile and attach it to the pizza pan.
  4. Paint the tile and pan. Use a 1" flat paint brush (or pouncer brush) and apply a basecoat of white rustoleum chalk paint. Allow it to dry completely.
  5. Apply color. Once the basecoat has dried, apply a coat of chalk paint in the color sage (or whatever color you prefer). Let it dry completely.
  6. Add a final layer of paint. I used a cut piece of a dish towel to apply the last color.
  7. Embellish. Add a jute rope hanger. Detatch the welcome and mason jar from the hanger. Watch the video to see how I assembled the jar, sign, and faux flowers to create the hanger's overall embellishment.
