Supplies Needed:
- 4-inch embroidery hoops
- foil cookie sheet from Dollar Tree
- pen or fine-tip permanent marker
- scissors
- paint brushes
- gel stain
- matte gray paint – I used DecoArt in the color “barn wood”
- mini bottle brush trees and wreaths
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- to make the wooden church: wood craft sticks and miter shears
- 3/8-inch black and white check ribbon
Tutorial: How to Make Tin-Backed Embroidery Hoop Christmas Ornaments
Follow this quick video, or read the step-by-step directions below:
- Lay an embroidery hoop flat on the foil baking sheet. Trace it with a pen fine-tip permanent marker.
- Stain the embroidery hoop. Keep the inner and outer rings of the embroidery hoop assembled during this step.
- Paint the foil cut-out with gray paint.
- When the paint and stain have dried, assemble the ornament. Apply hot glue to the back of the embroidery hoop, and attach the foil cut-out.
- To make the mini church: cut wooden craft sticks at a 45-degree angle at the top, and a 90-degree angle at the bottom. Connect the three cut craft sticks on the back with a scrap piece of craft stick and hot glue. Stain the wood church and hot glue a bottle brush wreath to the front.
- Decorate the ornament with a bottle brush trees, a mini wood church, and check ribbon.
- Run twine through the embroidery hoop hardware to hang the ornaments.
