I love the idea of crafting with printables, especially to make these cute mini poster hanger ornaments!
Using free printables to decorate for the holiday season isn’t really a new decor idea. However, there are only so many things you can print and hang on a gallery wall… and a limit to how many gallery walls you can have in one house! That’s why I’ve always looked for new innovative ways to still incorporate printable decor but without going overboard with cluttered walls.
Using Christmas printables, like this Christmas farmhouse art, you can create all sorts of things… from greeting cards to gift tags, to these mini hanger ornaments. So as you get ready to add some holiday decor to your home, keep in mind that you can get pretty crafty with printables!
WHY I LOVE THIS PROJECT
One word – versatile. If you’re a crazy crafter like me, you can get bored with many some of the same old craft projects. It’s nice to be able to use similar supplies and come up with an entirely new project idea.
In this case of using the Christmas printables to make ornaments, you can carry a similar theme throughout your home by using the printables as wall decor, mini hanging ornaments, coasters, greeting cards, and so on.
Not to mention, this project takes minimal supplies, most of which you may already have stashed in your craft room.

TUTORIAL: HOW TO MAKE MINI POSTER HANGER ORNAMENTS
Follow this quick video, or read the step-by-step directions below.
- Download and print the printables you want to use on white card stock paper and at 35% (assuming your printables are 8″x10″ – feel free to print at a different ratio if you want your ornaments to be a different size).
- Trim the popsicle sticks down to size using heavy-duty crafting shears. I did about 4″.
- Use a gurbby paintbrush to stain the popsicle sticks. Make sure to get the edges and ends. Wipe access with a paper towel.
- Use the paper trimmer to cut around the printed decor. Leave about a quarter of an inch border around the top and bottom. On the left and right sides, trim right up to the edge of the image.
- Cut 10″ pieces of twine to serve as the hanger. Knot them at the top.
- Assemble the ornament using hot glue. Add a thin line across the top and center it on the popsicle stick. Apply the 10″ twice and then another popsicle stick on top.
- Repeat for the bottom and all other ornaments.
TIP: Be sure to use card stock paper when printing your printables. This will help give your mini poster hanger ornaments some substance (and not be flimsy).
NOTE: When cutting your popsicle sticks, cut one to the desired size and use that one as the template for the rest. This will ensure they are all the same size.
OPTIONAL: Give your mini poster hanger ornaments an upgrade by adding some greenery or fake snow. You can also change up the stain color and go for something poppy and bold.
I love this craft so much because you can find a million and one free printables out there to use. Do a quick Pinterest search and you’ll see what I’m talking about. You can have unique free printable mini poster hanger ornaments in minutes!
