DIY Dollar Store Pumpkin Door Hanger Crafts

Neutral Painted Pumpkin Sign
This Neutral Painted Pumpkin Sign is a super easy and inexpensive way to add welcoming fall decor to your home.
Materials
- Pumpkin Hanger (Dollar Tree)
- DecoArt Chalk Paint (Sage Shadow, Sage, and Castle)
- Pack of Half Wood Balls (Amazon)
- Wood Glue
- Paint Brush (1 for painting, 1 for applying wood glue)
- Half Twigs (Hobby Lobby, or use one from outside)
- Ribbon (natural fiber and tan buffalo check)
Instructions
- On the backside of the pumpkin door hanger, paint a solid coat of light green chalk paint.
- Accent using some of the white chalk paint.
- Then contrast with a little bit of light grey. (Do this and the previous step while the green is still wet.)
- Continue painting until you get the look that makes you happy.
- Set aside to dry.
- Once the chalk paint has dried, outline ridges of the pumpkin with the half wood balls, securing with wood glue.
- Use heavy-duty craft scissors to cut off the cardboard pumpkin stem. Hot glue a piece of twig in place as the new stem.
- Create a bow with the check and burlap ribbons and hot glue it beneath the stem.
** TIP: While painting, use the same paintbrush and paint while everything is still wet. This allows the paint colors to blend together in a natural way.
TO MAKE A SCRAPPY RIBBON BOW: Cut 3 lengths of solid color ribbon and 3 lengths of check ribbon. Cut all ends at a 45-degree angle. Lay the ribbon down in a pile - makeing a sort of "X" or snowflake plattern. Gather the ribbon pile in the center, and wrap with another piece of ribbon. Tie the center ribbon in the back with a simple knot. Then fluff out the ribbon pieces and trim any ends that seem out of place.

Tin Wall Tile Pumpkin
This Tin Wall Tile Pumpkin is the perfect inexpensive craft to add farmhouse style pumpkin decor to your home this fall. With just a few Dollar Tree supplies, you can make one in no time!
Materials
- Wooden Pumpkin Door Sign
- Self-Adhesive Wall Tile
- Tacky Glue
- Craft Knife
- Chalk Paint (White and Grey)
- Paintbrush (medium to large)
- Twine
- Wood Beads
- Faux Boxwood Sprigs
- Wooden Roses
- Hot Glue
Instructions
- Using the pumpkin door sign, draw an outline on the back of the adhesive tile.
- Cut out the pumpkin template. Cut just inside the traced outline.
- Apply a generous amount of tacky glue to the back of the wood pumpkin. (I didn't want to use the adhesive piece because I wasn't sure how sticky it was going to be long-term.) Place the faux tile onto the glued surface.
- If you're going to hang this, use a craft knife to poke holes into the faux tile were the holes are in the pumpkin.
- You can leave this craft plain metal or add a distressed look by dry brushing white chalk paint onto the tile. Go over it a bit with the grey chalk paint.
- Once the paint has dried, string some wood beads onto a piece of twine (long enough for hanging). Then, feed the ends of the twine through the holes and secure it with a double to triple knot (to prevent the knot from slipping through the hole). Cut off any excess twine.
- Embellish the bottom of the pumpkin with faux boxwood sprigs and faux wooden roses all secured with hot glue.
** TIP: Dollar Tree twine likes to fray so to prevent that, I add a piece of masking tape to the ends to make threading it much easier.
***NOTE: The wood roses were not the easiest to glue so be sure to apply plenty of hot glue to the roses and secure them to the pumpkin. And then apply hot glue and secure the roses to one another.

Jute Rope Pumpkin Sign
Paint a Dollar Tree pumpkin sign to look just like a farmhouse-style fairytale pumpkin - embellished with nautical jute rope.
Materials
- pumpkin door hanger (Dollar Tree)
- DecoArt chalk paint (Sage Shadow, Sage, and Castle)
- nautical jute rope (Dollar Tree)
- ribbon and faux greenery for embellishments
Tools
- 1-inch flat paintbrushes
- hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
Instructions
- Pop off any embellishments and remove tags. As shown in the video tutorial, I painted the back of the sign because it provides the flattest surface.
- Pour out a dab of each chalk paint color onto a paint-friendly surface (back of a piece of cardboard will do).
- Begin dry brushing the light blue color onto the center of the pumpkin hanger then work your way towards the outer parts of the hanger. This doesn't need to be perfectly painted, but more splotchy.
- Fill in the center with a mixture of the light green and light grey.
- Set the pumpkin aside to dry.
- Wrap the jute rope around the stem, hot gluing it on the front and back of the pumpkin hanger.
- Then, outline the pumpkin ridged with the jute rope, dotting hot glue and sealing along the way.
- Embellish the pumpkin with faux greenery, a simple ribbon bow, and the metal leaf that came with the pumpkin door hanger.
** TIP: You can get creative with how you want the colors to merge. I went with a darker center and lighter outer but you can do whatever you'd like. The idea is to create dimensions.

Window Cling Pumpkin Craft
Grab a Dollar Tree pumpkin door hanger and some fall window clings to make a totally customized fall pumpkin craft.

Instructions
- Paint the back of the pumpkin with teal chalk paint. Let dry.
- Lay out the window clings on the pumpkin in an arrangement that you like. Then set them to the side of the pumpkin.
- Apply a layer of Mod Podge and lay the window clings on top. Smooth out the window clings (the rolling tool is very helpful here) and make sure there are no air bubbles as the Mod Podge dries.
- Apply another coat of Mod Podge over the enitre pumpkin surace to seal in the window clings.
- Make a bow with ribbon and hot glue it to the base of the pumkin stem.
- OPTIONAL: Cut a length of twine, and tie a knot at each end. Hot glue each knotted end to the back of the pumpkin and hang.
TO MAKE A SCRAPPY RIBBON BOW: Cut 6 lengths of various 1-inch side ribbbon (I did 2 of tan, 2 of green, and 2 of tan/white check).
