Dollar Store Plastic Bowl Fall Centerpiece
Learn how to turn a Dollar Tree plastic party bowl into a chic DIY fall centerpiece using spray paint, ribbon, and faux flowers. Easy, affordable, and customizable!
Materials
- Dollar Tree plastic tiered party bowl (party aisle)
- Spray paint or chalk paint (cream, orange, green, or coordinating color of your choice)
- Wide decorative ribbon (such as burlap or seasonal ribbon)
- Plain ribbon for stamping or embellishing
- Rubber alphabet stamps + black ink pad (optional for customizing ribbon)
- Faux greenery and flowers (seasonal stems that match your color theme)
- Floral foam block
Tools
- Hot glue gun + glue sticks
- Scissors
- Silicone finger protectors (for safe gluing)
Instructions
- Watch video. Follow along with the video tutorial for a walkthrough on how to make your own fall centerpiece.
- Paint the Bowl. Start by spray painting your Dollar Tree party bowl. Hold it carefully and give the base a quick coat, then set it down and spray the sides. Choose a color that matches the ribbon or flowers you’ll be using. A soft cream, warm orange, or muted green all work beautifully for fall.

- Customize Your Ribbon. While the paint dries, get creative with your ribbon. You can stamp phrases like “Happy Fall Y’all” using alphabet stamps and an ink pad. This trick works year-round—swap out the phrase for birthdays, holidays, or special events.
Pro Tip: If stamping isn’t your thing, you can also add lettering with heat transfer vinyl (HTV) or iron-on vinyl.

- Add the Base Ribbon. Hot glue a strip of wide ribbon (like orange burlap) around the bowl’s center. Use small dabs of hot glue, securing as you go. Protect your fingers with a silicone tool or protector to avoid burns.

- Layer with Custom Ribbon. Once the base ribbon is secured, glue your stamped or customized ribbon on top. This creates a layered look. Since the text wraps around, there won’t be a true front or back—perfect for a centerpiece that looks good from every angle.

- Make a Simple Bow. At the seam where the ribbons meet, cover it with a bow. To make an easy one: Fold the plain ribbon into a figure-eight shape. Pinch the center. Secure with a few threads pulled from the burlap ribbon. Trim tails at a 45° angle for a polished finish. Hot glue the bow right over the seam.

- Add Florals. Insert a floral foam block into the bowl. Start with greenery as your base, then layer in flowers. Mix textures and colors that coordinate with your chosen ribbon and paint. Orange blooms with soft greenery create a balanced fall look, but you can swap in any florals to fit your style.
