This Hanging Gold Bells craft was inspired by a viral DIY holiday bell made out of toilet paper tubes and plastic Easter eggs that I saw on Pinterest. I made a few tweaks but yielded beautiful results.

Why I love this craft
I really took to the Christmas bell trend about a year ago and ended up making a wide range of bell crafts. I started to wonder how many random things could I turn into bells or how many Dollar Store bells could I transform. And what came from that was about 8 DIY Christmas Bell Tutorials!
What did I change with this craft project?
I couldn’t get the paper tubes to line up with my Easter eggs so I decided to recreate this project using a cereal box. So I just cut a strip of cereal box cardboard and made each of my bells a different height. If you go this route, you can cut them at the lengths you prefer.

Easter Egg Gold Bells
A cereal box and plastic Easter eggs come together to make super cute and festive Hanging Gold Bells.
Materials
- Recycle cereal box
- Plastic Easter eggs
- Black chalk paint
- Antique gold rub-n-buff paint
- Twine
- Gold floral wire
Tools
- scissors
- hot glue
- small paint brush
Instructions
- Watch tutorial video. Watch the video for a walkthrough guide to create your own hanging gold bells.
- Cut cardboard strips. I used the sides of the cereal box to cut strips. You can make them whatever size you'd like.
- Attach strip to Easter egg. Cut the Easter egg to have the 2 ends detached. Hot glue and begin wrapping the cardboard strip around the smaller section, using the groove as a guide. Over cut a little bit of the strip. Hot glue everything together securely.
- Apply additional hot glue. Apply another line of hot glue around both attachment places and in 2 additional places. (see video) Attach a wood bead on the top of the Easter egg.
- Paint the bell. Paint the inside and out with black chalk paint (with the exception of the very center of the inside). Once the bells have dried, apply the antique gold in a rub-and-buff (dry brush) method.
- Add inside bell hanger. Tie a triple knot on one end of the piece of twine. Cover the tied end in hot glue and gently set it down inside of the bell and use the end of a paintbrush to push it until dried. Attach a wood bead onto the dangling twine at the height you want and add an additional knot the keep it in place. I go for just inside the bell. Cut off any remaining twine.
- Add outside bell hanger. Wrap the gold floral wire around the end of a paintbrush 3 times and cut off the tail ends. You should have a little screw eye type piece. Put a dab of hot glue inside of the outer wood bead and attach the floral wire inside. String twine through to hang.
