Why I love this craft

Anytime I can recycle a box and turn it into a cute craft, I consider it a win. Using things I already have on hand not only saves money but also helps keep my craft space clutter free (if you know what I mean). A craft like this is also something I can easily reuse or turn it into something completely different later.

Where do I get the gift tag template?

I provide you with a free template here. You can also download your own by searching Google. Something else I mention in the tutorial video are two different ways to transfer the gift tag templates onto the cardboard. You can use the pencil method or purchase carbon transfer paper.

The inspiration for this craft:

Learning how to reuse old boxes has inspired lots of crafts and I’m always amazed at how each one turns out. One of my favorites has been this DIY Cardboard Christmas Tree Collar that looks like real wood.

Instructions

  1. Watch video tutorial. Watch the video for a step-by-step walkthrough to create your own Christmas Gift Tags.
  2. Transfer the gift tags onto a piece of cardboard. In the video, I show 2 different ways to transfer the tags onto a cutout piece of the cereal box. I recommend purchasing transfer paper for the best results.
  3. Cut out the tags. Once you have the tags transferred, cut them out. Once they are cut out, use a mini hole puncher to put a hole in the top of each tag. cut out gift tags and hole punch
  4. Spray paint the tags. I spray painted the tags outside for best ventilation. You can use double sided tape to keep them secured.
  5. Add embellishments. I used image transfers I purchased from Amazon; however, you can use a paint pen or stickers. I added some paint to the edges to spruce the tags up a bit. embellish gift tags with gold paint embellish gift tags with rub on transfers

Notes

Cut inside of the transfer lines so you don't have pencil or carbon markings on the tag.
