Why I love this craft

If you’ve spent any amount of time on my blog or YouTube, then you know how much I enjoy pumpkin craft projects. Anytime I can create a new style of pumpkin, I like to try it. For this project, I used little pieces of cut fabric inserted into a foam pumpkin for a unique looking pumpkin.

Where should I buy the fabric?

You can purchase packs of fabrics from most craft stores. I purchased the fabric used for this craft project from Walmart. They are usually relatively inexpensive and come in a variety of styles. Look for prepackaged bundles of coordinating fabric, or inexpensive fat quarters that suit your style.

The inspiration for this craft:

I was inspired by plush craft kits that I purchased from Michael’s for my kids. They came with little squares of fabric that were used to cover little animals. I used that same concept for this pumpkin and it turned out great.

Fair warning: This craft takes time to complete so I highly recommend putting on a movie, podcast, or something you can watch or listen to while doing it.

  3. Apply fabric squares to pumpkin. Using a wooden skewer, begin pressing the squares into the pumpkin. It is helpful to hold the skewer at an angle. If you press straight into the pumpkin, you will poke right through the fabric. Repeat until the entire pumpkin is covered.
  4. Embellish the pumpkin. Braid 6 strands of twine together about 2 to 2 1/2 feet in length. This braid will be used to cover the stem using hot glue. Make a bow with the remaining braid and hot glue it to the stem. embellish pumpkin stem with braided twine

Notes

*This project takes quite a bit of time, so grab a movie or podcast to keep you entertained!
