Why you’ll love this craft
Have you ever decorated for the fall season and had little areas that you wanted to fill that were too for ordinary sized decor (think pumpkins)? Or, maybe you’re looking for the perfect low-cost craft to do with a group of friends.
This craft is perfect for both of those things, and more! Using Dollar Store supplies and a few things you most likely already have on hand, this craft is cheap to make and has a beautiful finish that works with any decor style.
What do I need to make this craft?
The only materials you may have to buy are the 5×7 canvas and a fall-themed napkin. If you don’t have the following on hand, then you’ll need these as well: paint that matches your napkin, jute twine, hot glue, and a heat press.
If you don’t have a mini heat press, then you can also use an iron (just no steam).
The inspiration for this craft:
There are so many creative decoupage crafts to make with napkins... the possibilities are just about endless. When I saw these “Harvest Blessings” napkins at Dollar Tree, I knew I had to make a craft with them!

Fall Decoupage Mini Canvas
This Fall Decoupage Mini Canvas is the perfect autumn craft if you're looking for something quick, easy, and inexpensive to make.
Materials
- 5x7 canvas
- fall-themed napkins (Dollar Store)
- Deco Art matte paint (colors: parchment and brown)
- jute twine
- hot glue
Tools
- 1" paint brush
- small heat press
- hot glue gun
- scissors
Instructions
- Watch the video. Follow along with the video for a step-by-step walkthrough to help you create your own fall decoupage mini canvas.
- Prep the canvas. Add a base coat to the entire canvas (including the sides) that is equivalent (or close to) the color of the napkin you'll be using to decoupage. Let that dry completely.
- Add mod podge. Once the paint has dried, add a solid coat of matte mod podge to the entire canvas. Let that dry completely.
- Prepare the napkin. Cut out the section of the napkin you'll be using and peel apart the the two plys.
- Seal the napkin. Use a small heat press and go over the napkin. Be sure to put a piece of parchment paper on top of the napkin before applying the heat. Flip the canvas over and apply heat to the backside as well. Press the sides of the napkin as well. Trim off any excess.
- Create a trim. Use 6 pieces of twine and braid them together. Glue the braid around the border of the canvas.
- Decorate. This canvas fits perfectly with any fall decor style. Hang it, sit it up on a bookshelf, or place it on a table.
