Why I love this craft
Once Dollar Tree added window clings to their seasonal/holiday section, I knew there would be TONS of craft projects added to my “must-make” list, and this window cling mini sign is just that. There is so much you can do with mini wooden signs and adding window clings is one of them.
This is a craft project that uses minimal supplies and you’ll most likely have everything you need on hand besides the sign and window clings. Or, if you’re like me, you will have picked up a few of these while gathering supplies for something else.
Why is mod podge a must-have for crafters?
Mod Podge is a versatile, water-based sealer, glue, and finish all wrapped up in one. It can be used in a variety of crafting projects, and acts as an adhesive that provides a durable, clear finish that seals and protects surfaces.
Most crafters use Mod Podge because it dries quickly, is easy to clean up with soap and water, and is available in different formulas, including matte, gloss, and outdoor versions.
The inspiration for this craft:
Earlier this year, for Easter, I made a Dollar Store Easter Decoupage Tray that used window clings and I loved how it turned out. Although I love my Cricut machine dearly, using window clings makes it much easier to transfer a cute pattern or design onto another surface.

Fall Window Cling Mini Sign
Grab a mini wooden sign and a pack of window clings and turn them into a super cute Fall Window Cling Mini Sign - perfect for autumn.
Materials
- mini wooden sign
- fall-themed window clings
- mod podge
- scrappy bow (made with burlap ribbon)
- wood half balls (painted dark green)
- wood glue
- light colored chalk paint for distressing wood balls
Tools
- scissors
- 1" flat paint brush
- pen blade
Instructions
- Watch the video tutorial. Follow along with the step-by-step instructions to learn how to make your own fall window cling mini sign.
- Dry fit the window clings. Choose the clings you'd like to use and dry fit them so you can trim them down to size.
- Prep the wooden sign. Apply a coat of mod podge to the entire sign.
- Apply window clings. Once the mod podge has been painted onto the wooden sign, apply the window clings and smooth them down to remove any air bubbles.
- Score the window clings. To create a nice finished look, use a pen blade or razor blade to score the clings along the lines of the wooden sign. Watch the video to see how I did this.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5. Repeat these steps for each window cling you place onto the wooden sign.
- Finish the look. Once the mod podge has dried, flip the sign over and remove any excess pieces with the pin blade. Embellish the sign with a scrappy bow. I made mine with burlap ribbon. Add dark green painted and distressed wooden half balls along the bottom using a dab of wood glue.
The Finished Craft
I styled my mini pumpkin sign with these spackle textured pumpkins and wood bead pumpkins that I made last year.
