Give your fall decor a touch of farmhouse style with these super cute and easy-to-make wood bead pumpkins. Make them big or small and showcase them wherever you’d like!
Let’s make different sizes of wood bead pumpkins to showcase in your home.
Wood beads have long been used for a variety of crafts and projects. From elaborate chandeliers and tassels to garlands and Christmas ornaments, there’s not much you can’t do with wood beads.
Not to mention, they are the perfect touch for anyone who loves the farmhouse decor style. Speaking of which, what I love about the farmhouse theme, in general, is how versatile it can be. I put together these dollar tree mop pumpkins using… you guessed it, a mop head!
Before I get off subject, check the bottom of my post for more farmhouse and pumpkin-themed craft inspirations!
WHY I LOVE THIS PROJECT
Besides this being one of the cutest crafts for the autumn season, it’s extremely cost-efficient. With only 5 supplies needed, most of them (really ALL of them) can be found at your local Dollar Tree or Dollar Store.
For a fraction of the cost of purchasing these already made from a retailer, you can easily create your own.
SUPPLIES NEEDED
- wood beads
- floral wire
- jute
- faux garland
- wire cutters
A Note on Wood Beads: I have spotted wood beads at Dollar Tree, but they are usually already painted. You can always re-paint these to match your style. If not, you can find unfinished wood beads at any craft store or online.
TUTORIAL: HOW TO MAKE WOOD BEAD PUMPKINS
Follow this quick video, or read the step-by-step directions below.
- Cut 3 12″ lengths of floral wire.
- Place the 3 cut pieces together and string on a wood bead over all three pieces. This will secure the base of the pumpkin.
- From there, start adding wood beads to each individual wire strand.
- In my tutorial video, I had six wire strands and I put 10 beads on each one.
- When all of the strands are covered with wood beads, pinch the wire tops together and push the wood beads down.
- Next, twist the remaining wire tops all together to make a “stem.”
- Then, trim your wire down to the length you want your stem to be.
- Next, grab your greenery and place it over the stem.
- Lastly, wrap the twine around the wire. Tie it off with a simple knot, and you’re done!
** TIP: I like using the greenery that can easily be pulled off the stem and has a hole in the plastic piece holding the leaves together. The wire can easily be fed into that hole for quick assembly.
***NOTE: You’ll need to fluff out your strands and wood beads to give a circular, pumpkin-style look.
OPTIONAL: If you want larger pumpkins, use longer floral wire and more strands. If you want an odd number of strands, you will need to double up two pieces of wire. For example: cut 4 lengths of wire. Fold in half. Add wood beads to 6 of the wires as well as to a doubled-up wire. This will give you 7 bead sections in your finished pumpkin.
