Why I love this craft

I’ve been crafting with window decals and wood rounds for quite some time and they’ve always been super easy to work with, while also making some of the cutest decor. You can find window clings to match just about any style and they can be used in a way to express your unique decor style.

Best place to buy window clings?

Dollar Tree typically has a ton of window decals to choose from, both for anytime and for particular seasons. When I find some that I really like, I go ahead and buy them up, even if I’m not using them right away. You can also buy window clings at stores like WalMart.

The inspiration for this craft:

Some of my first wood round ornaments were these Decoupage Ornaments with Wood Rounds and Napkins. Although I used napkins for these, I knew window decals would work just as lovely as well.

Materials

  • wood round ornaments
  • Christmas-themed window decals
  • matte mod podge
  • folk art matte paint (color: parchment)
  • twine
  • red ribbon
  • hot glue

Tools

  • 1" flat paint brush
  • scissors

Instructions

  1. Watch the video. Follow along with the video tutorial for a step-by-step walkthrough on how to make your own window cling wood round ornaments.
  2. Add a base coat to the front of the wood rounds. Paint a coat of folk art matte paint in the color parchment onto the front of each wood round. Let it dry completely.
  3. Add window clings. Fit the window clings of your choice onto each wood round, cutting and trimming as needed.
  4. Add a coat of matt mod podge. Cover the entire surface of the wood round and smooth down the window cling to remove any bubbles. Add an additional coat of mod podge. Allow this to dry.
  5. Make tiny bows. Embellish the ornaments with small handmade bows. Watch the video to see how I made these.
  6. Create the hangers. Using a piece of twine, loop it through the ornament and tie it off with a simple knot. Once tied, add the bows to each ornament with a dab of hot glue.
