Why I love this craft
Not only is this a unique craft project, it uses simple and inexpensive supplies you can pick up from Dollar Tree. This means making a piece of home decor that’s both cost efficient and beautiful. Feel free to get creative with your paint color choices as well!
What are miter shears?
If you haven’t been crafting for very long, chances are you may not have heard of or see a need for miter shears. These are equivalent to heavy duty craft scissors but with extra bells and whistles. They allow you to make precise cuts and cut through just about any type of material.
I recommend having a pair of these on hand, especially if you like to craft with wood materials. In this case: I was able to cut a wood ring in half to form the hanger on top of the bell.
The inspiration for this craft:
Working with Dollar Tree plastic bowls isn’t new for me and I know I can use them for all sorts of things. Some of my inspiration for this craft came from my Cut Crystal Plastic Bowl Update which uses the exact same paints – but with a slightly different twist.

- E6000 glue
- wood ring

Tools
- Miter shears

Instructions

- Attach the bowls. Use little dabs of E6000 glue and hot glue all around one bowl and attach it to the other bowl.
- Attach jar lid. Use hot glue (or E6000 glue) to attach a salsa jar lid to the top of the jumbo bowl bell.
- Cut wood round. Use a pair of miter shears or heavy duty craft scissors to cut the wood ring in half. Attach it to the jar with E6000 glue.
- Paint the bell. Take the bell outside and cover it with black spray primer. Make sure to get complete coverage.
- Add antique look. Use a scrap cut piece of sponge to apply gold rub and buff to the bell to give it an antique look.
- Embellish the bell. Use small cut pieces of faux pine and pinecones to embellish the top of the bell. Secure with hot glue. Make a bow with ribbon (watch the video to see how I did this.)
