How to make a mini plastic crystal bowl bell.

Why I love this craft

Not only is this a unique craft project, it uses simple and inexpensive supplies you can pick up from Dollar Tree. This means making a piece of home decor that’s both cost efficient and beautiful. It’s also super simple to make.

What is E6000 glue?

I craft with E6000 A LOT and I do so to add an extra layer of stability to my craft projects. Sometimes I use it by itself and other times I pair it with a few dabs of hot glue. Either way, if you’re looking for an extra hold, keep a small bottle of E6000 glue on hand.

The inspiration for this craft:

Working with Dollar Tree plastic bowls isn’t new for me and I knew I could use them for all sorts of things. Some of my inspiration came from my Cut Crystal Plastic Bowl Update which uses the same material but with a slightly different twist.

Instructions

  1. Watch the video. Follow along with the video tutorial for a step-by-step walkthrough on how to create your own mini plastic crystal bowl bell.
  2. Attach handle. Cut a wood ring in half with heavy duty craft scissors or with a pair of miter shears. Secure one half on the bottom of a crystal bowl with dabs of E6000 glue.
  3. Spray pieces. Spray everything with a coat of white spray primer. Allow to dry completely.
  4. Paint the pieces. Start by painting a base coat with the darker grey.
  5. Add a lighter grey. Once that coat dries, go over it with a dry brush and a lighter grey color.
  6. Secure the pieces together. Place hot glue on one bowl and attach the other directly on top.
  7. Cover the seam. Cover the seam of the bowls by hot gluing on a strand of jute cord.
  8. Paint the handle. Paint the handle with a coat of antique gold rub and buff.
  9. Embellish the top. Add faux greenery and ribbon to finish off the look of your mini plastic crystal bowl bell.
