Why I love this craft
Not only is this a unique craft project, it uses simple and inexpensive supplies you can pick up from Dollar Tree. This means making a piece of home decor that’s both cost efficient and beautiful. It’s also super simple to make.
What is rub n’ buff?
For craft projects that have a gold accent, I use antique gold rub n’ buff. Antique Gold Rub ‘n Buff is a type of wax-based metallic finish that is popular for giving items an aged, antique look. It’s easy to use and works well with most surfaces. I like to keep a small tube on hand and typically use a fine tip paint brush or cut piece of sponge to apply.
The inspiration for this craft:
This craft was definitely influenced bu other viral bowl bells that I’ve seen on social media, but I’ve definitely made a handful of my own bells!

Light Up Bowl Bell
All you need are just a few Dollar Store supplies to make this super cute and festive Light Up Bowl Bell.
Materials
- 2 jumbo plastic (crystal) bowls (Dollar Tree)
- faux pine sprigs
- battery operated lights
- small jar lid
- black spray primer
- rub and buff (color: antique gold)
- jute rope
- gold floral wire
- E6000 glue
- hot glue
Tools
- small paint brush
- hot glue gun
Instructions
- Watch the video. Follow along with the video for a step-by-step walkthrough on creating your own light up bowl bell.
- Fill the bowl. Inside one of the bowls, add faux pine sprigs and a string of battery operated lights. Leave the battery pack out.
- Paint the lid. Spray the lid with a coat of black primer. Add a coat of antique gold rub and buff.
- Create the handle. Wrap each end of the cut jute rope with gold floral wire. (I wrapped about 15-20 times.)
- Assemble the bell. Add dabs of E6000 glue around the bottom bowl and set the other bowl directly on top. Be sure to leave the battery pack portion of the lights outside of the bowl.
- Create the bell hanger. Glue down the jar lid to the top of the bell. Then glue the ends of the jute rope onto the jar lid to create a hanger.
