Pizza Pan Gift Wrap Tray
Turn a Dollar Tree pizza pan into a charming Christmas tray using gift wrap and jute rope. An easy holiday DIY anyone can make!
Materials
- 1 Dollar Tree pizza pan
- 4 small round wood beads (to use as tray feet)
- Gift wrap (or scrapbook paper/decorative vinyl)
- Jute rope (1.5 packages from Dollar Tree)
- Chalk paint (color to coordinate with your gift wrap; navy blue used here)
- Matte Mod Podge
- Hot glue sticks
- E6000 glue
Tools
- Hot glue gun
- Mini heat press or household iron (no steam)
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Sharpie
- Parchment paper
Instructions
- Watch the video. Follow along with the video for a walkthrough on how to make your own decorative tray.
- Create the Tray Feet. Use a combination of E6000 (for long-term hold) and hot glue (for instant grip) to glue four wood beads to the bottom of your pizza pan to act as the “feet.” Space the beads evenly around the bottom of the pan.

- Paint the Pan. Choose a chalk paint color that coordinates with your gift wrap. In this project, navy blue was used to match the wrapping paper. Paint the entire bottom of the pan, including the rim and the bead feet. Let it dry, and apply a second coat if needed.

- Add Mod Podge. Flip the pizza pan over and apply a layer of matte Mod Podge to the inside center of the pan. (No need to apply it to the edges — they’ll be covered later.) Allow the Mod Podge to dry completely.

- Cut and Apply Gift Wrap. Use the label from the pizza pan as a template to cut a perfectly sized circle from your gift wrap. Since the label likely only covers half the pan, trace one side, flip it, and trace the other side to get a full circle. Cut it out with scissors.

- Heat Press the Gift Wrap. Once your Mod Podge is dry, center the gift wrap circle inside the pan. Cover it with parchment paper, and then use a mini heat press or a dry iron to reactivate the Mod Podge. Press gently all over to adhere the paper smoothly without bubbles.

- Wrap the Edge with Jute Rope. Start on the outer edge of the pizza pan and begin hot gluing jute rope in a spiral toward the center. Cut the ends of your rope at a 45° angle for a cleaner, more seamless finish. You’ll need about 1.5 packages of jute rope to fully cover the pan’s inner edge. Continue gluing the rope row by row, making sure to press down gently for good adhesion. Marry the 45° angles together where pieces meet for a neat transition.

- Optional Add-On: You can add jute rope handles if you like — perfect if you want to take this tray from cute to functional.
