Berry and Holly Globe Ornaments

Yield: 3 ornaments
Active Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Difficulty: easy

Make this quick and easy snow globe ornament with clear plastic balls, Epsom salt, and holiday trimmings. A cozy winter craft you'll love!

Materials

  • Clear plastic globe ornaments (found at Michael’s or most craft stores)
  • Epsom salt (for the snow effect)
  • Mini pine cones
  • Faux berry sprigs or small holiday greenery (boxwood, holly, or pine work great)
  • Decorative twine (if your ornament doesn’t come with a hanger)

Tools

  • Scissors
  • Scrap paper (to make a funnel)

Instructions

    1. Watch the video. Follow along with the video for a walkthrough on how to make your own ornaments.
    2. Prep Your Ornament. Start by grabbing a clear plastic ornament. If it has a hanger already, awesome! The one I used had a cute red and white baker’s twine, which added a festive pop. Remove the top of the ornament so you can fill it easily.
    3. Make a Quick Funnel. Roll up a small piece of scrap paper to create a makeshift funnel. This will help you pour your Epsom salt inside the ornament without making a mess.
Add Your “Snow” Scoop a little bit of Epsom salt (I used the kind we keep in our bathroom for baths!) and pour it into the ornament using your funnel. This creates that perfect snowy base inside your ornament.
    4. Add Mini Pine Cones. Next, pop in a small pine cone—or two, depending on the size. These add that natural, woodland feel.
    5. Trim and Add Berries or Greenery. If you have faux berries or tiny pieces of greenery, trim them down so they’ll fit through the top opening of the ornament. I trimmed off a holly leaf and used just a small section of berries to keep the scale right. You don’t want anything too big or bulky.
Tip: Boxwood or mini pine sprigs would look amazing in these!
    6. Shake and Adjust. Once everything’s inside, gently shake the ornament to help the pieces settle in a pretty way. You might need to tilt and adjust things until they look just right.
    7. Close It. Up Pop the ornament top back on and—voilà!—you’re done! If yours didn’t come with a hanger, add a little twine or ribbon for hanging on the tree.

The Finished Craft:

And that’s it—your snowy ornament is ready to shine! This DIY is perfect if you’re short on time but still want to add a personal, handmade touch to your holiday decor. Plus, it’s totally customizable with whatever mini trimmings you have on hand.
Make a whole batch as gifts, or gather the kids and have a fun ornament-making afternoon. Either way, this easy project will have you feeling festive in a flash.
Happy holiday crafting!
