If you don't think it's possible, I've created a home office in a closet and a play room in a closet - I'm sure you can create a fabulous sewing area in even a small space in your home.
Remember - lighting is SO important here. Buy a quality sewing lamp and even consider hanging a mirror to amplify the light and make your space feel larger.
