Why I LOVE Mason Jar Crafts
Mason jars have become a versatile and popular item in the world of DIY crafts and home decor. Their rustic appeal and versatility make them a perfect canvas for creative projects.
This craft is no exception, and It’s only made better by adding Dollar Store supplies. Get ready to add a touch of elegance and nature to your home!
Materials you’ll need for this project:
- Jars – Any kind of glass jar will do. I use a few marinara jars from Aldi. I can’t be the only one who buys certain food items at the grocery store ONLY because I like the jar they come in, right?!?!
- Decals – These pretty flower decals come in a pack of 2 at Dollar Tree. Since you only need 1/2 of a decal for each jar, you can make up to 4 jars with only one decal sheet set. What a deal!
- Twine, hot glue, and green chalk paint to finish off your look – I used Waverly chalk paint in the color moss. It was the perfect hue to compliment my flower decal stickers.
**Can’t find flower decals at the dollar store? Don’t worry! You can easily use pretty scrapbook paper, a printed image of a flower, or large stickers from the craft store. If using paper, use Mod Podge to adhere your image to the glass, let dry, and then seal the decal with another coat of Mod Podge.

Flower Decal Mason Jars
These floral decal mason jars are a wonderful way to bring the charm of spring and summer blooms into your home decor - using upcycled and dollar store supplies.
Materials
- Jars - mason jars, old spaghetti jars, etc. Something with at least two smooth sides will work best
- Flower wall decals - from the dollar store
- Twine
- Optional: Green chalky finish paint - Waverly color "fern" (if you want to paint the jar lids)
Tools
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Optional: Paint brush (if you want to paint the jar lids)
Instructions
- Watch the video tutorial before you begin, and let that be your visual guide for this project.
- Wash your jar thoroughly and remove the label. If you like, you can use goo gone to remove any remaining sticky residue.
- While still on the paper backing, cut a flower decal in half. Then smooth a decal half over the jar, leaving about 1-inch of jar exposed at the bottom.
- Use hot glue to secure the end of a piece of twine to the jar - right under the decal cut edge. Begin wrapping the twine around the jar, securing with hot glue as you go. When you reach the bottom of the jar, cut the twine.
- OPTIONAL: Paint your jar lids with chalk paint. Let dry
- Repeat to make as many jars as you like. NOTE: these flower decals came in a 2-pack. If you only use half a decal on each jar, you can make 4 jars with one decal pack.
- Display your jars with faux or fresh greenery or flowers, wood beads, or anything else you like.

These jars are absolutely stunning! I love pretty jars, too, and I’m buying spaghetti and cream sauces in pretty jars that actually have the “Mason” logo embedded. I’ve been saving mine, and this is such a great way to reuse them. Thanks so much for sharing your creativity. I read your blog everytime you post. Keep up the inspiration! I bet some readers never email, but I want you to know how much you inspire me.
Hello. The jars are beautiful! How do you get the smell out of the lid?
Maybe try cleaning with vinegar? I use 50-50 vinegar water spray on practically everything!
I do a lot of jar projects, as well as wine bottles. I soak in soapy hot water for several hours. Label comes off . I use a Chore Boy scrubby with dish detergent to get the glue off. When that’s done, into the d/w for a thorough wash. Perfectly clean n odor free!!
