Why I love this craft

There is so much you can do with pizza pans but I noticed the overload in door hangers. While I love a cute door hanger, sometimes I want something a little different – and that’s where this mirror craft project comes in. Enjoy!

Jute Rope vs. Twine: What’s the Difference?

Jute rope and twine might look similar, but they serve different purposes in crafting. Jute rope is thicker, sturdier, and great for adding a rustic, chunky texture and is perfect for things like wrapping the edges of trays, vases, or baskets.

Twine, on the other hand, is thinner and more delicate, making it ideal for small accents like gift wrapping, hanging tags, or tying around mason jars. Both bring that natural, farmhouse charm, but the choice depends on the size and strength your project needs!

Materials

pizza pan (Dollar Tree)
round mirror (Dollar Tree)
Rustoleum spray paint primer (color: coastal sage)
scrap cardboard
2 balls of twine (Dollar Tree)
2 balls of jute rope (Dollar Tree)
E6000.

Instructions

Watch the video. Follow along with the video tutorial for a step-by-step walkthrough of how to make your own magnetic board.
Disassemble mirror. Take apart the mirror by removing the screws on the back and removing the frame.
Paint the frame. Spray a coat of paint on the frame and let it dry completely.
Create a cutout with cardboard. Trace the pizza pan onto the cardboard. Center the picture frame and trace it as well. This will be the form for the frame.
Cut out the template. Use heavy duty craft scissors to cut out the ring.
Wrap with twine. Secure one end with a piece of tape and begin wrapping twine around the ring until the cardboard is covered. Hot glue the end to secure. Continue with the second ball of twine, until all of the cardboard is covered.
Attach ring to pizza pan. Apply a generous amount of hot glue to the twine ring and lay the pizza pan on top (bottom side down).
Add additional jute rope. Secure a thick piece of jute rope to the inside of the twine form using hot glue. Use another 2 pieces to fill in the gap (watch the video to see how I did this).
Add a hanger. Knot a piece of twine and secure it with a dab of E6000 and a dab of hot glue.
Attach mirror. Reattach the backing to the mirror and attach it all to the twine wrapped form.
