Before I jump into the creative uses, I thought I should clarify the difference between curtain rods and tension rods—both of which are mentioned throughout this post.

Traditional curtain rods are typically mounted with brackets screwed into the wall or window frame. They are often more decorative, come in a variety of materials (metal, wood, acrylic), and are designed to hold heavier window treatments like blackout curtains or layered drapes.

- Cons: Requires drilling and permanent hardware.
Tension Rods
Tension rods are spring-loaded and held in place by tension between two surfaces—no screws or hardware needed. They are perfect for renters or temporary setups, and usually best suited for lightweight fabrics or small storage hacks.
- Best for: Temporary or renter-friendly solutions, lightweight items, narrow spaces like closets or under sinks.
- Pros: Easy to install and remove, no tools required.
- Cons: Less weight capacity, limited to smaller spans.
