Why I Love This Craft

Can we say CHEAP?! If there’s one way to save money on craft projects, it’s by learning how to use everyday items around you. In this case, there is so much you can do with CARDBOARD, including making this corrugated decor.

I’ve also used old cardboard boxes to make decorative storage boxes, a bottle carrier, and Christmas tree collar.

How do you separate the layers of scrap cardboard to reveal the corrugated inner layer?

This is really SO easy, and it’s actually a top that a viewer left on a YouTube video for me a while back.

Supplies that you will need:

  • piece of cardboard
  • rag
  • water
  • pen blade or razor blade

How to separate cardboard layers:

  1. Wet the top layer of the cardboard scrap. Use a wet rag to wet the top of the the scrap piece of cardboard. Let the rag sit on the top (fully covered).
  2. Peel off the top layer. After about 5 minutes, the top layer of the scrap piece should peel off effortlessly (especially if you’re using an insert piece without stickers). A pen blade may be helpful in lifting any tricky areas.
  3. Get crafting. Use the bottom layer with the corrugated texture for your craft projects!
