WHY I LOVE CRAFTING WITH WOOD CRAFT CUBES
Projects can get pretty creative when crafting with wood. In addition to these little wood cubes, I also like craft projects that use the Jenga wood pieces, like these DIY Jenga Valentine ornaments.
Wood-based projects also add a farmhouse touch along with a neutral color (if left unpainted). Wood is also easy to paint on and pair together with other materials.
TUTORIAL: HOW TO MAKE A WOOD BLOCK HEART CRAFT
Follow the quick step-by-step directions below:
- Lay out 49 mini wooden blocks in a seven-by-seven square on the work surface.
- Using the photo below as a guide, paint the front surface of the blocks with white and red paint. Let dry completely.
- Flip all the blocks over, keeping them in the same order. One the back side, paint the blocks with red and pink paint. Let the paint dry completely.
- Attach the first row of blocks together using liquid craft glue. Continue gluing blocks together until all seven rows are complete. The blocks may be slightly different in height and width – don’t worry!
- Then attach each of the seven rows together with liquid craft glue. Secure vertically and horizontally with rubber bands and set aside to apply glue to dry.
- Once dry, wrap black and white gingham ribbon around the outside edge of the heart block. Tie in a knot at the top, and finish with a bow. Trim the ribbon ends at a 45-degree angle with scissors.
TIP: Feel free to experiment with different colors, shapes, and sizes.
This project is so easy you can have your kids join in and make their own. It also makes for a great project to do with your crafting friends! Did you give it a try? Let me know.
