Dollar Store Picture Frames and Free Valentine Printables - How to Update Cheap Picture Frames with paint

I stumbled across these ADORABLE little clothespin picture frames at the Dollar Store the other day.  I instantly fell in love with everything but the paint color.  So I whipped up a quick Dollar Store craft to display these little Valentine’s Day printables!

Here’s what you will need to update these cheap picture frames:

  • paint brushes
  • light blue chalk paint
  • white chalk paint
  • cheap picture frames, like these ones that I bought at the Dollar Store:

Tutorial: Painted Picture Frames

How to Update Cheap Picture Frames with Paint

Start by painting one thin, even coat of light blue chalk paint onto the frames.  Be careful to fill all of the nooks and crannies, but don’t let paint pool in the corners.  Let the light blue paint dry.

Then, using a dry brush, paint a coat of white chalk paint.  Not sure what I mean by dry brush?  Dip the brush in paint and then tap off excess on another surface (like a paper towel).  The idea is to paint the white, while letting the light blue poke through.

Let the paint dry completely, and you’re good to go.

I used my new little Dollar Store frames to display these little Valentine’s Day printables.  You can download the printables for your own use by clicking the button below:
