Display indoor greenery in a brown bag paper vase. Make this farmhouse style plant holder from just a brown paper lunch bag and ribbon! This is such a thrifty and green way to display indoor plants.
This project first appeared over at Somewhat Simple where I’m a contributor.
Hey there! Who here is ready for the world’s easiest craft/DIY decor project? I’m not even kidding. If you can crumple paper into a ball and tie a bow, you can make these planter bags.

Supplies Needed to Make a Brown Bag Paper Vase
- brown paper lunch bags
- brown twine
- thin white satin ribbon
- craft scissors
- small potted plants or vases (my plants are the faux kind from Ikea, and I love, love, LOVE them!!!)
The Tutorial: Planter Bags
(scroll down for a quick video tutorial)
Crumple a brown paper bag a few times. Just crush it into a ball, and then smooth it out again.
Gently fold down the top of the paper bag – by about an inch. Continue to roll down the top edge of the paper bag, until the bag is the desired height. Be careful not to rip the bag!!
Add a small potted plant, or even a small vase of flowers.
Wrap the paper bag with twine and ribbon. Tie a simple bow.
That’s it! How cute are these little faux plants from Ikea?
