Now, fabric tape is NOT washi tape.
Washi tape is a thinner paper tape, often with a waxy finish. And, in most instances, it’s removable.
Washi tape has gained huge popularity in the last few years. It’s a favorite among crafters as well as people who love their paper planners. You can use it to decorate just about anything.
While I do love using washi tape in many instances, I also love crafting with fabric tape. It’s thicker, has more texture, and is more permanent.

Uses for fabric tape:
- Add to letters and packages – seal a letter a package with a colorful strip of fabric
- Decorate bookmarks
- Gift wrap and gift tags – wrap a gift with plain kraft paper and seal with fabric tape, or adorn gift tags with tape
- Make your own stickers – cut out into fun shapes
- Mini pumpkins – make these colorful, no-carve DIY fabric tape pumpkins. The fabric in the is better suited to smoothing around the curves of the pumpkin than washi tape is.
- Decorate floral Easter eggs

Supplies needed for this craft:
You really only need a few basic supplies. The hardest part of this whole project is deciding what pattern fabric you like best!
- cotton fabric – bright colors with small detail patterns work best
- permanent double-sided tape – I used this 1/2-inch tape and this 1/4-inch tape
- nonstick scissors or rotary cutter and cutting mat
- clothespins – to keep your new rolls of tape sorted
