DIY Packing Tape Stickers
Want custom stickers without a Cricut or sticker machine? This DIY tutorial shows you how to make durable stickers with printer paper and packing tape.
Materials
- Parchment paper (freezer paper or wax paper also works)
- Clear packing tape
- Printed designs (quotes, clipart, or your own printables—use regular printer paper)
Tools
- Craft scissors
- Smoothing tool (or an old gift card/credit card)
- Printer
Instructions
- Watch the video. Follow along with the video tutorial for a step-by-step walkthrough of how to make your own DIY stickers.
- Prep Your Base. Start by laying out a sheet of parchment paper on your work surface. If the paper curls or waves (especially near the end of a roll), use small pieces of packing tape to secure the corners down flat.
- Create a Sticky Sheet. Cover the parchment paper with strips of clear packing tape. Work row by row, smoothing each strip with your smoothing tool as you go. Slightly overlap each strip so you don’t leave any gaps. By the end, you’ll have a giant sticky sheet ready for your stickers.

- Choose and Print Your Designs. Open Canva, Google, or your favorite design tool and pick some fun images or quotes. Print them out on plain printer paper—no special sticker paper needed. Then, cut out each design with scissors.

- Place and Seal the Stickers. Arrange your cut-out designs face up on the sticky sheet you made earlier. Once you’re happy with the placement, cover each one with another piece of packing tape. Again, slightly overlap the strips so your stickers are fully sealed.

- Cut Out Each Sticker. Cut each sticker out individually, leaving about a ¼-inch border of clear tape around the edges. This step is important—if you cut right up to the paper edge, the tape layers won’t seal together and your stickers may fall apart over time.

- Smooth and Store. Give each sticker one last smoothing pass with your tool or card to press out any bubbles. You can store them as a full sheet until you’re ready to use them, or trim them down right away.
And that’s it—your very own homemade stickers, made with just parchment paper, packing tape, and a printer! This DIY hack is perfect for back-to-school, scrapbooking, journaling, or just adding some personality to your everyday items.
The best part is how flexible this project is—you can make motivational quotes, seasonal designs, or even let your kids create their own artwork stickers. So grab some tape and paper, and start sticking your creativity everywhere!
