Why I love this craft
There’s just something about vintage tin that instantly makes a space feel elegant and timeless—and that’s exactly why I love this faux tin tile tree collar. It gives your Christmas tree that boutique designer look without the boutique price.
For this project, a little white chalk paint and gold Rub ’n Buff take the tiles from plain plastic to stunning antique. I love that it’s quick, affordable, and looks like something you’d find in a vintage decor shop.
Crafting with faux tin tiles.
If you’re not already using Dollar Tree faux tin tiles in your projects… what are you waiting for? These lightweight, peel-and-stick tiles are a crafter’s dream. They’re easy to cut with scissors or a utility knife, take paint beautifully, and instantly add texture and depth to any surface.
In this tree collar, they wrap neatly around a concrete form to create the illusion of a real metal base. The raised design details make them ideal for dry brushing or layering with metallic finishes like Rub ’n Buff. Whether you’re going for farmhouse chic, vintage glam, or a little of both, these tiles help you get that custom look—on a dollar store budget.

The inspiration for this craft:
This project was inspired by my love of timeless holiday decor with a little vintage flair. I’ve used these faux tin tiles in several home projects before, and every time I look at them, I think, “These would look amazing on something round!” So wrapping them around a concrete tube to glam up the bottom of my tree was a no-brainer.
