I’m going to be really honest with you all here. Despite lots of pretty pictures and my mission to make things creative, uncomplicated, and budget-friendly, my life can sometimes look like a total disaster. Example: my shopping trip to decorate this tree. It was around 8pm, but it felt like midnight. I had already hit my wall 2 errands ago. My brain had stopped all non-essential functioning, and I was basically a walking zombie. This would not be the time I recommend making creative decisions – like picking out Christmas decorations. But I did it anyway. Thank goodness it turned out all right.
I spent less than $20 on my dollar store purchases. Let’s take a quick look at how I put everything together.
1 – Base Layer: Tree Skirt and Garland
Burlap is my best friend when decorating my Christmas tree. For practically nothing, I can whip up a tree skirt and garland. You can read all about how I cut burlap and made a tree skirt in this post: Easy-Peasy Christmas Tree Decorating.
2 – Add Flowers and Berries
I added sprigs of flowers and berries throughout the tree. Just nestle them between the branches, and the will stay put on their own. There is no need to attach the stems with anything.
3 – Final Layer: Ornaments
Then, I filled in with ornaments. Too simple!
