Why I love this craft
I love the designs on the peel-n-stick wallpaper sheets and I knew the perfect way to use them. Making these photo mats was super easy and a cost-efficient way to craft on a dime. Also, the design possibilities are endless!
What if I can’t find peel-and-stick wallpaper?
No worries! You could also use any type of contact paper or adhesive vinyl (like for Cricut projects). You could even use decorative paper or gift wrap paper an a glue stick (like kids use in school).

DIY Wallpaper Photo Mats
DIY Wallpaper Photo Mats are a unique way to showcase your favorite photos. Grab some peel-and-stick wallpaper sheets to make this craft.
Materials
- 2 diploma size picture frames
- Metallic gold spray paint, or any other color to compliment your wallpaper sheets
- 2 pieces of peel and stick wallpaper
- 2 sheets of cardstock paper
Tools
Instructions
- Watch the video. Follow along with the video for a step-by-step walkthrough on how to make your own wallpaper photo mats.
- Disassemble the photo frames. If you can only find black frames (like I did), spray paint the frames gold - or any other color to compliment your peel-and-stick wallpaper sheets.
- Prep card stock paper. Trim off two of the ends of the card stock paper (a scant quarter inch). This is because the wallpaper wraps around the 4 edges of the paper. If you don't do this, the finished photo mat may not fit into the picture frame.
- Create markings on card stock paper. Watch the video for the measurements. Measure the midpoint of each side of the paper. Then measure left and right 1/2 of the dimension of your photo. Mark your lines with a pen and ruler.
- Cut opening for picture. Use a craft knife to cut precisely where the photo is going to show.
- Attach peel n stick wallpaper. Add the card stock paper to the peel n stick wallpaper. Smooth down. Cut an x in the middle of the wallpaper piece, and fold over each triangle onto the back of the cardstock. Trim triangles off each wallpaper corner. Fold each side over the back of the cardstock. Repeat for the second photo mat.
- Embellish. Embellish with a photo of your choice.
