Why I love this craft
Anytime I can upcycle an old jar, I’m all for it. For this craft project, I wanted to use the wildflower decals I purchased on Amazon and they were the perfect thing to use on my jars.
This is a project that takes just a few minutes once the spray paint is dried. It’s also versatile when it comes to embellishing the jars. Use them to hold your favorite seasonal flowers or turn them into lanterns.
What size jars should I use?
You can use whatever you have on hand. I decided to use a tall jar that held jalapenos at one point and another jar that was smaller (it held bullion cubes). If you want to create a unique look, use several jars a varying sizes. If you are going to symmetry, then use jars that are the same size.
The inspiration for this craft:
I’m not new to the frosted glass look. A few years ago, I decided to add a touch of coastal charm to my home by making decorative sea glass jars. This particular craft made it easy to transform plain glass containers into breathtaking decorative pieces.

Materials
- jars of any size (recycled)
- wildflower decals (Amazon)
- matte finish spray paint
- jute twine
- wooden craft stick or other smoothing tool
Tools
- scissors
Instructions
- Watch the video. Watch the tutorial video for a step-by-step walkthrough for making your own upcycled wildflower glass jars.
- Clean jars. Make sure the surface of the jars are cleaned. Use Goo Gone to remove any leftover glue residue.
- Coat the jars in the matte finish spray paint. I used about 4 or 5 thin coats to get the frosted look on the jars. You can also use a frosted spray paint if you have that on hand. Let the paint dry between each coat.
- Apply the flower decals. Cut as close to the flower decal as possible and apply it to the jar, smoothing with a large craft stick. Then peel off the clear plastic backing gently. Repeat this step for the second jar.
- Embellish the jars. Use thin jute twin wrapped around the tops of the jar to add a finished look. You also add flowers and/or tealight candles inside the jars.
