Winter Wooden Spoon Snowman Craft

Supplies needed to make wooden spoon snowmen:

Most of these supplies can be purchased from a dollar store. Otherwise, they are readily available at any craft store.

  • Wooden Spoon/Spatula – check the kitchen aisle at the dollar store
  • Acrylic Craft Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Assorted Craft Embellishments to Decorate:
    • Chenille Stems
    • Pom Poms
    • Wiggle Eyes
    • Wooden Craft Sticks
    • Orange Craft Foam
    • Wooden Snowflake Stickers
    • Clear Rhinestones

Supplies to make Wooden Spoon Snowmen

How to Make Wooden Spoon Snowmen:

  1. Apply a coat of white acrylic craft paint to the wooden spoons and spatula. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.
  2. Using scissors, cut the rounded ends off a wooden craft stick. Paint the craft stick and top 1/3 of wooden spatula with black acrylic craft paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. Glue the black craft stick to the wooden spatula to create the hat brim. paint the wooden spoons white and black
  3. Make snowman faces: To create carrot noses, cut three triangles from orange craft foam. Attach two wiggle eyes and a carrot nose to each wooden spoon for the snowman face.
  4. To create the earmuffs, measure and cut a chenille stem to 4” long. Bend into a “U” shape and glue to either side of the wooden spoon. Attach pom poms over the cut end of each stem using a glue gun and glue sticks.
  5. Create the snowmen mouths by dipping the end of a paintbrush handle into black acrylic craft paint. Then gently tap in a row to make a smile shape. It makes perfectly round dots! embellish the wooden spoons with snowman faces
  6. Tie ribbon scarves around the neck of each snowman, securing with a dot of glue.
  7. Attach two black buttons to the handle of each wooden spoon with a glue gun and glue sticks. decorate the snowman top hat and scarves
  8. Embellish the snowman’s top hat: Paint a wooden snowflake sticker with light blue acrylic craft paint. Attach to the wooden spatula snowman hat with a glue gun and glue sticks. To finish, place a self-adhesive rhinestone in the center of the snowflake.

Change up the size of the wooden spoons and spatulas to create a variety of snowman to share with family and friends. This is a great craft project for tweens and teens to create on their own or with younger crafters.

  • Acrylic Craft Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

Instructions

  1. Apply a coat of white acrylic craft paint to the wooden spoons and spatula. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.
