Why I love this craft

This is another one of my favorite craft projects because I love the versatility that comes with it. For this project, I used the vase to hold beautiful flowers, but you can also fill it with sand and add tealight candles or fill it with water and floating flowers.

What is the best paint to use for glass?

For this particular project, I used white enamel paint which is great for painting glass. You can find a variety of brands that carry paint that works well with glass – Folkart and DecoArt being the most popular.

Yield: 1 vase
Active Time: 45 minutes
Additional Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Difficulty: easy

This Painted Brick & Flower Vase is the perfect spring craft project that will add beautiful decor to any space in your home.

Materials

  • glass vase
  • flower stencil
  • painter's tape
  • white enamel ware paint (made for painting glass)
  • acrylic craft paints (colors of your choice)

Tools

  • (nonstick) scissors
  • pouncer brush
  • Cricut weeding tool (optional)

Instructions

  1. Watch video. Follow along with the tutorial video for a step-by-step walkthrough on how to make your own painted brick and flower vase.
  2. Cut painter's tape. Cut strips of painter's tape into smaller widths.

Attach them to vase horizontally, from bottom to top. (watch the video to see how I did this)
  3. Cut smaller pieces of painter's tape. These strips will be place vertically between the horizontal strips to create a brick look. (watch the video to see how I did this)
  4. Paint the vase. Use a pouncer brush to paint on a white base coat of enamel paint made for painting glass. Use a generous amount over the entire vase.
  5. Remove the tape. Do not allow the paint to dry completely and peel off the painter's tape. Once the paint dries, use a razor blade to clean up any edges.
  6. Paint on flowers. Using stencils and paint colors of your choice, pounce on the flowers (and leaves). (watch the video to see what I did). You will need to let each flower/leaf dry a bit before stenciling the next one.

Once that dries, fill in the flowers and leaves with additional paint colors.
