This quick Dollar Store Funny Saying Clay Pot Craft goes together in just about 30 minutes with limited supplies. It’s perfect for the beginning crafter and easy on the wallet.

I love the look and feel of these funny saying clay pots. The black and white color makes them easy to accommodate any decor style, and it can also be switched up (should you choose another color scheme).

I’ve made a number of things with clay pots and that’s the joy of crafting with them. Whether you’re painting them or adding embellishments, this is one supply that you can get pretty creative with.

WHERE TO FIND CLAY POTS

Most Dollar Trees (and Dollar Stores) carry clay pots in a variety of sizes. They can also be purchased at your local craft store and/or from an online retailer like Amazon.

Always check the pots to make sure they don’t have chips or cracks in them. And if they are in stock, buy more than you think you’ll need – you can thank me later!

TUTORIAL: HOW TO MAKE THIS FUNNY SAYING CLAY POT CRAFT

Follow this quick step-by-step tutorial below.

1. Roughly paint the bottom portion of the 2.5” clay pots with white acrylic craft paint and a paintbrush. The paint will absorb into the terracotta and create an uneven finish, or rustic finish.
2. Connect the letter stamps to spell the words and create the first funny message. Starting with the first word, tap into the black ink pad, and then stamp the word onto the painted portion of the clay pot.
   
3. Continue to build additional funny sayings and stamp them onto the clay pots. Line up the words in order, so that they get stamped on the clay pots in the correct order.
4. Attach the end of the natural jute twine to the back of the top rim of the clay pot with a glue gun and glue sticks. Wrap the natural jute twine around the top rim of the clay pot approximately four times. Cut the end at the back of the clay pot and secure it with glue.
   
5. Tie a bow with the jute twine, trim the ends with scissors, and then glue it to the top center of the rim of the clay pot.
   

** TIP: If any sections of the letter stamps do not print fully, simply fill in those sections with a fine tip permanent black marker. This is also perfect for punctuation.

***NOTE: The words will not stamp on evenly or perfectly, but that is part of the charm of the funny sayings. Leave the letters rough or fill in the missing sections with the permanent marker.

OPTIONAL: Switch up the color of paint you use for your pot. Choose a color that matches your decor theme.
