Why I love this craft
Anytime I can pick up a Dollar Tree product and use materials I already have on hand at home, it’s a win-win. I liked making these pillows because they were easy, no sewing required, and I was able to get rid of some old pillow stuffing.

Can you sew these pillows?
The fabric on these particular chair covers is super slippery, so it may be difficult to run through a sewing machine. If you want to hand-sew, that would be a good option. I’m sure fabric glue would work as well, but there would be a waiting period for it to dry before stuffing the pillow.
The inspiration for this craft:
Having a new space inspired me to create a batch of patriotic-themed decor for my entryway and back patio. This craft project is just one of the four. You can see them all here.

Materials
- 2 American flag chair covers
- pillow stuffing, I repurposed old pillows
- hot glue
- twine plant hanger (Dollar Tree), or thin jute rope
Tools
- hot glue gun
- scissors
Instructions
- Watch the video. Follow the tutorial for a step by step walkthrough on creating your own American flag pillows.
- Prep the chair covers. Create a seam by hot gluing a small section of the chair cover inward. (watch the video to see how I did this)
- Add pillow stuffing. Place stuffing inside of the American flag pillow.
- Seal the pillow. Hot glue the pillow opening closed.
- Prep the plant hanger, optional. Untie the flower plant rope and pull it out. Otherwise, use think twine or thin rope.
- Hot glue the rope. Start at the bottom of the pillow and hot glue the rope around the border of the pillow. Trim the end and hot glue it to the pillow.
