Why I love this craft
This craft is a great way to decorate for the spring, summer, and patriotic holidays all while adding a subtle splash of color. I also love how I was able to incorporate Dollar Tree placemats, flowers, and a cute wood bead garland find!
What hot glue gun do I use?
I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the hot glue gun I use, so I thought I’d link it here. It has an ergonomic detail tip, which makes precision gluing easier. Also, having the lever on top makes it better when holding it.

The inspiration for this craft:
I was inspired by the red and blue placemats I saw at the dollar store. This craft is part of a series I just released, 4 NEW Dollar Store Placement Crafts and DIYs. So pick up a handful of placemats and give them a try!

Instructions
- Watch the video. Follow along with the tutorial for a step by step walkthrough for making your own patriotic placemat door hanger.
- Hot glue twine. Hot glue a piece of thick rope or jute twine onto the wheel wreath form.
- Attach 2nd placemat. Turn the placemat over and hot glue about half around the bottom of an additional placemat on top of the other. (Watch the video to see how I did this.)
- Create a pocket. Fold the top placemat down and hot glue it to create a pocket/pouch.
- Attach a hanger. Use the patriotic wood beads to make the hanger. Position it evenly and then attach the wood bead garland to the back with hot glue.
- Fill pouch with flowers. Cut the labels and ends off a bunch of white faux flowers. Stick them into the pouch.
- Make a ribbon. Watch the video to see how I did this. Attach the ribbon to the front of the pouch.
- Embellish the door hanger. Attach the USA embellishment to the bow and then attach them both to the door hanger.
