Why I love this craft
This is not the first time I’ve made a craft using dollar store pumpkins. In fact, I’ve used them to make mop head yarn pumpkins and even a ribbon pumpkin.
The inspiration for this craft:
I love crafting with old books, and I recently picked up an old hardcover book with beautifully worn pages. I used on this recent DIY jute rope bowl, and had it lying around when I started my fall crafting. I don’t think it’s difficult to imagine my thought process that brought us to this point!

Mod Podge Book Page Pumpkin
Grab an old book and a foam pumpkin to make this creative and unique Mod Podge book page pumpkin craft to decorate your home for fall.
Materials
- 1 foam pumpkin, Dollar Tree
- Matte Mod Podge
- Old book pages, or scrapbook paper
- Greenery for embellishing the pumpkin top
- Twine
Tools
- 1-inch flat paintbrush
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Instructions
- Watch the video tutorial before your begin, and let that be your visual guide for this craft.
- Cover Half the pumpkin. Work in sections, and apply a coat of Mod Podge over that area of the pumpkin. Rip up various sizes of book page paper, and smooth a piece over the wed Mod Podge. Smooth another coat of Mod Podge over the paper. As the paper gets wet, it will become easier to smooth into the ridges of the pumpkin. Continue until about one half of the pumpkin is covered. Set aside and dry.
- Cover the other pumpkin half. Repeat step 2 on the remainder of the pumpkin.
- Cover the pumpkin stem. When you reach the stem, rip a piece of paper to match the width of one stem side. Use Mod Podge, and smooth paper around the four pumpkin stem sides, and then over the stem top. Let dry.
- Embellish the pumpkin top. Embellish the pumpkin top with faux greenery and a twine bow using hot glue.
- To make the twine bow: Loop twine around three fingers 3-5 times, and pinch in the middle to create a figure-8. Tie another piece of twine around the middle of the figure-8 to make a bow.
This pumpkin came out beautiful!! I love being able to use paper in my projects. Thanks for the fun and creative idea here..
