Every summer, Dollar Tree usually sells a variety of grilling and picnic supplies – like bamboo skewers, paper plates, serving trays, fun plastic cups, and deli baskets for hamburgers and hot dogs.

Not one to pass up on a good basket craft, I got creative with paint, a wood slatted sign, and some faux flowers to create a cute floral basket sign.

Dollar Store Deli Basket Sign
Transform a plastic deli basket into a beautiful flower basket sign with this step-by-step tutorial to make a Dollar Store deli basket sign.
Materials
- Grill basket from Dollar Tree
- White spray primer
- Unfinished wood sign
- Gel wood stain and paper towels
- Chalk paint, dark brown and cream
- E6000 glue
- Small bunch of faux flowers
- Twine
Tools
- 1-inch flat paintbrush
- Heavy duty craft scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Instructions
- Watch the video tutorial before you begin, and let that be your visual guide for this craft.
- Stain the sign. Paint gel stain onto the unfinished wood sign, painting all the edges as well. Wipe away excess stain with a paper towel. Let dry.

- Prime the basket. In a well-ventilated area, spray the basket with spray primer. Spray one side of the basket, and let it dry. Then flip the basket over and spray the other side. Let dry.

- Paint the basket. Alternate between brown and cream paint, using a dry brush technique to layer paint. Let dry.

- Assemble the sign. Use a combination of E6000 and hot glue to secure the basket to the wood sign.

- Add flowers. Cut a small bunch of faux flowers, with stems short enough to fit inside the basket. Wrap the stems with twine, and secure with a bow. Hot glue the flower bunch inside the basket.

- Hang. If you want to hang this sign, you can glue twine to the back of the sign. I used command velcro strips to attach this sigh right to the wall.
