I recently whipped up this American flag backdrop for a fun-filled 4th of July themed photo session with my kids.
Make this DIY American flag backdrop – perfect for decorating your 4th of July party or staging patriotic themed photos.
We recently went back to North Dakota to visit family. At the top of my to-do list: take some new “nice” photos of the twins. I knew I wanted to take some 4th of July themed photos, and I had planned to hit up the craft store before hand to grab the necessary supplies. Who was I kidding? Never mind the fact that I can literally walk to a craft store from my house. It just didn’t happen.
*** For this project, I was originally inspired by this backdrop from Laughing Latte. Check out her site for TONS of photography tips and tutorials. ***
DIY American Flag Backdrop
Now, I’m not going to shame my *favorite* aunt or accuse her a hoarding. BUT, I should have known that I would find everything we needed (and more!) for this project in her craft stash.
We ripped up some red and white quilting fabric, and hung it with some red and white assorted ribbon. We also used an old American flag remnant. I’m not kidding when I say this lady has every craft supply imaginable.
We hung the fabric and ribbon from an old branch, and then we secured everything in the back with a loose basting stitch. So fun!
I hung our backdrop in a shady spot of my aunt’s garden, to avoid getting weird shadows or glare from the sun.
Our 4th of July Pictures
