Hello there! I’m Becca and I blog at Hello Central Avenue. You can find inspiration and ideas about DIY projects, home decor, and parties! I’ve been guest posting on The Crazy Craft Lady for a few months now. You may have seen my latest project, the “Personalized Father’s Day Banner” that I created for my husband, since my kids can’t work a Cricut machine yet.
Nursery Dresser Organization
I have been on a major organizing kick lately! In fact, I’m going to go so far as to say that I’m attempting to change my habits with regards to clutter and organization! I’ve been working on my “Hot-Mess House Challenge,” where I’m taking back my home one storage bin at a time! You can check out the first space that I tackled in my post, “How to Organize a Small Linen Closet.” There are some scary before pictures!
My daughter’s room is a little further down on my “Hot-Mess House Challenge” list, but her dresser needed some immediate attention! If you have a child or know a child, you must have seen the stuff that accompanies them! The top drawer that holds a million different things was desperately calling out for help!
I’ve become a Dollar Store addict, so I am familiar with the storage bins they have there. I decided to grab a couple of different shapes and sizes to try to tame my daughter’s dresser drawer. I was delighted to see that with a certain combination, the bins filled the drawer perfectly. The Dollar Tree (that’s where I go), has so many different bins to help you with your kids’ dresser organization. You might have to play around a little bit with the fit, but you will definitely find what you need there. If you are looking for more organizing inspiration from the Dollar Store, check out my post, “DIY Bath Toy Storage with the Dollar Store!”
Supplies Needed
- Dollar Store bins (or any storage bins that will work)
- Paint (optional-drawer liners could also be really cute)
- Paintbrush
How to: Changing Table Organization
- First, empty contents of drawer(s), get rid of anything you don’t need, and then sort the rest into like categories. I separated everything into the following categories: hair supplies, pacifiers, diapers, wipes, burp clothes, bibs, and hats.
- If your dresser drawers are not painted, you might want to paint them or use some drawer liners to make them feel “finished.” I used some leftover white paint to clean up the inside of the drawers.
- Once the paint has dried, you can dry fit your storage bins to figure out which ones you will be using. This will also depend on how many categories you have.
- Finally, fill your bins with your predetermined categories!
Wouldn’t it be awesome to have each bin labeled! I’ll be putting that on my To-Do list! This is a very easy project to jump start your organizing. It doesn’t cost a lot of money since the bins are from the Dollar Store, and you can totally complete it in a very short amount of time!
