How to make Dollar Tree spring carrot wreath clips to embellish any greenery wreath.
Sometimes the best crafts are the simplest ones, and this Dollar Tree carrot DIY is a perfect example.
Instead of making a whole brand-new wreath for spring, we’re going to create clip-on carrot decorations that attach to a wreath you already have. It’s a great way to switch up your seasonal decor without storing a bunch of bulky wreaths all year long.

All you need are Dollar Tree wooden carrot ornaments, a little paint, ribbon, and clothespins, and you can turn a plain greenery wreath into an adorable spring or Easter door decoration in just a few minutes.
Let’s make them!

Spring Carrot Wreath Clips
Turn simple Dollar Tree wooden carrot ornaments into adorable spring wreath clips with paint, ribbon, and clothespins. A quick and budget-friendly spring DIY!
Materials
- Dollar Tree wooden carrot ornaments
- Waverly Chalk Paint – Pumpkin
- Waverly Chalk Paint – Moss
- Ribbon (any spring ribbon you like)
- Clothespins
- Hot glue sticks
Tools
- Paintbrush
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
- Lighter (for heat sealing ribbon ends)
Instructions
- Watch the video. Follow along with the video tutorial for a step-by-step walkthrough of how to make your own spring carrot wreath clips.
- Paint the Carrot Base. Start by painting the carrot portion of each wood ornament orange. Just paint the front surface of the carrot — no need to worry about the back or sides since these will be attached to a wreath. Let the paint dry completely before moving on.

- Paint the Carrot Tops. Paint the leafy carrot top green. Because the top has small cutout details, it helps to use a pouncing or stippling motion with your paintbrush rather than long strokes. This keeps paint from pooling in the little cutouts. Let the paint dry.
- Make Mini Ribbon Bows. Cut a small piece of ribbon and tie a simple bunny-ears bow: create two small loops and tie them together in a knot like tying shoelaces. Make sure the tails point downward before tightening. Trim the ribbon tails at a 45-degree angle. If you'd like, lightly heat seal the ends with a lighter to prevent fraying.

- Attach the Bows. Use hot glue to attach each bow right where the green carrot top meets the orange carrot body.

- Add Clothespin Clips. Flip the carrots over and hot glue a clothespin to the back of each ornament. Position the clothespin so the opening of the clip faces downward. This makes it easy to clip the carrots directly onto greenery.
- Clip Onto a Wreath. Take a plain greenery wreath — something like a faux fern or eucalyptus wreath works great — and simply clip the carrot decorations onto the branches. You can space them evenly around the wreath or cluster them together for a fuller look.
Notes
Why I Love This Wreath Hack: One of my favorite things about this project is that it lets you reuse the same wreath base all year long. Instead of storing multiple bulky wreaths, you can keep one neutral greenery wreath and swap out seasonal clip-on decorations.
