Why I love this craft

I’ve had a pile of old button down shirts sitting in my craft stash for years, just waiting for the right project. When I saw this star shaped wire wreath form at Dollar Tree the other day, I knew I finally had a use for these shirts!

Note: The photo above shows three blue shirts. I quickly realized that this didn’t provide enough contrast. So I pulled a plaid shirt out of my craft stash to use as well.

Rag Tie Star Wreath

Use a dollar store star wreath form to make this Patriotic Scrap Fabric Star Wreath - a fun star shaped rag tie wreath for 4th of July.

Materials

star wreath form
scrap fabric
ribbon
navy blue acrylic craft paint

Tools

cutting mat
rotary cutter
fabric scissors
pen or pencil
fine-point paintbrush
hot glue gun

Instructions

Watch the video tutorial before you begin, and let that be your visual guide for this craft.
Cut the fabric strips. Use a rotary cutter and mat to cut 350 1-inch x 6-inch fabric strips. It is helpful to cut a 6-inch piece first, and then cut it into 1-inch strips.
Tie the fabric strips. Secure each fabric strip to the wreath form with a simple knot. Reference the image below to see how any fabric strips to secure to each rung of the wreath form. .
Embellish a ribbon. Sketch "1776"onto a piece of ribbon. Then paint over your writing with blue paint.
Add a ribbon to the wreath. Let dry, and then secure to the wreath with two small dots of hot glue.
