These Halloween Mini signs are perfect to use as a gift tag for a special Halloween gift basket, decor for a party, or additional decor for your home.
Halloween doesn’t always have to be about ghosts, ghouls, and goblins – and quite honestly, I can’t stand that aspect of the season.
I’d much rather indulge in the “sweet” part of it, which is why I love the Boo Basket idea. It’s a cost-effective, non-scary way to enjoy Halloween. It’s a trend you can start with your kids, neighbors, co-workers, and so on. Plus, for your crafty friends, you can throw this craft project in the basket for them to do too!
WHY I LOVE THIS PROJECT
I love the idea of being able to do a craft project that can have multiple uses. These signs use the front and back which means you can choose to showcase one side for awhile and simply flip it over to have something totally different. It’s a win-win!

TUTORIAL: HOW TO MAKE HALLOWEEN MINI SIGNS
Follow this quick step-by-step tutorial below:
- Line up eight jumbo craft sticks on your work surface. Attach two jumbo craft sticks to the top and bottom with a glue gun and glue sticks. Flip the sign over and glue two more jumbo craft sticks to the top and bottom. To stay organized, store the remaining loose craft sticks in a zip top sandwich bag.
- Lightly basecoat the craft stick sign with black acrylic craft paint. Wipe off the excess paint with a baby wipe or wet paper towel. This will allow the grain of the wood to show through. Set aside to dry.
- Basecoat the BOO! portion of the wooden word with purple craft paint. Paint the Happy Halloween section of the wooden word with yellow acrylic craft paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.
- On the BOO! wooden word, paint the three eyeballs, white with a green iris and a black dot pupil. On the Happy Halloween wooden word, paint the jack-o-lantern orange and the stem brown. Once dry, add bloodshot lines to the three BOO! eyes with a red permanent marker.
- Measure and cut a 10” length of natural jute twine. Attach to the back of the craft stick sign with a glue gun and glue sticks.
- Flip both painted wooden words over to the back. Remove one of hook (the scratchy side) and loop (the soft side) fastener dots and attach them together. Remove the adhesive liner and place the dot onto the exclamation point of the BOO! Flip the word back over and securely stick it to the sign.
- Gently remove the word from the sign. Attach the opposite side of a second fastener dot to the sign and remove the adhesive liner. Push the Happy Halloween into the fastener dot, and then gently remove. Trim any excess fastener dot from the edge of the wooden word signs.
- Tie an 8” length of ribbon into a bow. Attach it to the sign with a glue gun and glue sticks. Trim any long ribbon ends with scissors.
