If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know I love a good Dollar Tree kitchen aisle craft. My latest obsession is with burner covers. They’re inexpensive, lightweight, and the perfect blank canvas for all kinds of decor projects.
For this spring craft, I turned a two-pack of Dollar Tree burner covers into a pair of adorable Flower Market hanging signs. One features a cute little mini wooden crate filled with faux flowers, and the other has a simple decorative bar with a vinyl decal.
The best part? This project also uses scrap paint stir sticks and leftover paint stick handle. So it’s a great way to use up those little bits that tend to pile up in the craft room.
Let’s get making!

Burner Cover Flower Market Signs
Create charming spring wall decor with Dollar Tree burner covers! This easy Flower Market sign DIY uses tumbling tower blocks, paint stir sticks, and faux flowers.
Materials
- Dollar Tree burner cover set (1 large, 1 small)
- Spray paint (pastel or spring color)
- Paint stir sticks
- Saved paint stir stick handles
- Dollar Tree tumbling tower blocks
- Wood glue
- Hot glue
- E6000 adhesive
- Wood stain (oak or similar)
- Vinyl decal (Flower Market design)
- Twine, rope, or jute trim
- Faux flowers
- Raffia or floral filler
Tools
- Miter shears (or heavy-duty scissors)
- Pencil
- Paintbrush
- Hot glue gun
- Cricut machine (optional for vinyl decal)
Instructions
- Watch the video. Follow along with the video tutorial for a step-by-step walkthrough of how to make your own flower market signs.
- Paint the Burner Covers. Spray paint both covers with a light pastel color. I used a light blue chalk spray paint, but any spring color like mint, pink, or lavender would work beautifully. Allow the paint to dry completely before moving on.

- Cut the Paint Stir Sticks. Using miter shears, trim the handles off two paint stir sticks. Cut both sticks down to the same length. Mark your cut line with a pencil so they match. Tip: Paint stir sticks can be stubborn. Some cut easily, while others take several passes. Just alternate cutting from each direction until they snap through.

- Build the Mini Wooden Half Crate. Line up five paint stir stick handles side by side to create the front of the crate. Use a combination of wood glue and hot glue, and secure three tumbling tower blocks along the bottom edge using wood glue.

- Add the Crate Sides. To complete the crate structure: Glue one tumbling tower block on each side. These blocks act as the side walls and help support the crate shape.
- Stain the Wood Pieces. Apply oak wood stain to the mini crate and the two cut paint stir sticks. Use a paintbrush to apply the stain, then wipe off any excess with a paper towel or rag. Allow everything to dry before assembling.

- Add the Flower Market Decal. On the smaller burner cover, apply your decal. I cut a Flower Market design on my Cricut. One thing I’ve learned the hard way: transferring vinyl onto spray-painted metal can be a bit tricky. If vinyl isn’t cooperating, you could also hand paint a design or use a stencil.

- Attach the Wooden Bars. Glue the two stained paint stir sticks horizontally across the smaller burner cover. Use E6000 and hot glue together for a strong hold. These bars give the sign a nice framed detail.

- Attach the Crate. Glue the stained mini crate onto the large burner cover using E6000 and hot glue. Position it toward the bottom so there’s space above for the hanger.
- Create the Hangers. Cut a length of twine, rope, or jute trim. Tie a knot at each end and glue the knots onto the back of each burner cover near the top to create a hanging loop.

- Add the Flowers. Fill the mini crate with faux flowers. Start with raffia as filler, then add a few small stems of faux flowers. I used some leftover Dollar Tree flowers from my stash.
And just like that, you’ve turned a couple of Dollar Tree burner covers into the cutest pair of Flower Market spring signs.
I love that these signs are two different sizes, and the little crate filled with flowers adds such a charming dimensional detail. Plus, it’s always satisfying to repurpose scrap materials—those leftover paint stir stick handles finally got their moment to shine!
