I think I have a new favorite room in my house, and it’s not even a room. It’s just my entryway. Not just my entryway, I suppose. It’s my brand new planked wall entryway!
I’m going to brag here for a minute. As I sat editing these photos, I couldn’t believe how amazing this space turned out. Then I reminded myself: Aimee, you took these pictures while the twins were sleeping, after you spent 30 minutes picking up clutter and washing the floor. As soon as the twins wake up, R will proceed to dump the basket of shoes everywhere and Miss B will take that pillow and drag it around the house for 30 minutes.
But for now, I will enjoy my new space and share with you how it all came together.
I started with my new planked wall
check out the tutorial here.
And then I started looking for benches… and thought I was going to lose my mind. This is a small entry, so I needed an equally small bench. And, in following with my “toddlers can’t be trusted with nice things” home decor theme, it needed to be cheap. I just could. Not. Find. Anything.
And then I went to Ikea. Of course! Ikea! I found a TV stand that was just the perfect size. Oh, and it was $15.00!
I took the bench home and introduced it to the twins. It was perfect! Now they can hop on the bench to put on their shoes. And they are getting pretty skilled at putting on their shoes all by themselves. R was so excited. He kept sliding back and forth across the bench.
He was less thrilled to share his space with sister.
I completed the space with a rug, baskets, succulents, and some DIY artwork. Here’s my source list:
- Bench – Ikea Lack TV Unit
- Round basket, rug, and pillow – Home Goods
- Square baskets – Target
- Succulents – Joann Fabrics
- Wall art – a DIY project for a guest post over at Designer Trapped in a Lawyer’s Body. Go check it out and see how I transformed scrap wood into wall art!
I’m also really enjoying this whole navy home decor color. I mean, half my wardrobe is navy. Why wouldn’t I want to incorporate it into my home?
I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do… until the twins wake up and rearrange for me.
I’m linking up at these great parties!
It’s beautiful and practical! I love the navy and whites, too.
Right? I swear, I was meant to live by the ocean… I just can’t stay away from nautical themed stuff.
What a fresh change! Feel free to brag, it all turned out beautiful. I just love the little hooks and the height is just perfect.
Thanks so much Letisha!
